I have a policy but haven’t gone on holiday yet. I’ve just found out that I’m pregnant (naturally, not through IVF) and I’m going to be more than 20 weeks pregnant while on holiday – can I cancel my holiday because I don’t want to travel without unlimited medical cover?

Yes – you have cover to cancel your holiday, just submit a claim online. Remember to provide confirmation from your doctor of how many weeks pregnant you are, along with your other supporting documentation.

What if I get pregnant through IVF and I’m going to be more than 20 weeks pregnant while on holiday – can I cancel my holiday because I don’t want to travel without unlimited medical cover?

We don’t consider this to be unexpected as the sole purpose of IVF is to conceive, so there’s no cover under the policy to cancel your holiday. However, we’re happy to cancel your policy and provide you with a full refund so that you can look for insurance that will provide the cover that you’re looking for – you just need to provide us with confirmation of your pregnancy.

What if I’m already pregnant and my doctor says I can’t travel – am I covered?

If my doctor tells me that I’m not fit to travel because of my pregnancy complications, am I covered to cancel my holiday?

Yes – if your doctor said you were fit to travel when you bought your policy and since then, your doctor has said that you’re not fit to travel, then there’s cover for you to cancel your holiday. If you’re currently more than 20 weeks pregnant, your cover will be limited to $20,000.

Submit a claim online, and remember to include confirmation of this from your doctor, along with all your other supporting documentation (like receipts for prepaid expenses and confirmation from the hotel and airline that you’ve cancelled, along with details of any refunds).
